The 2022 Los Angeles Marathon had lots of “TEAM KEEN” purple shirts this year – evidence of one of the many lasting impacts that KEEN USA national development director Joanna Winsborough had on all she met.

Joanna spearheaded the formation of KEEN’s duo teams for the LA Marathon, in which KEEN athletes in wheelchairs are pushed by KEEN volunteer marathoners. She coined the term “TEAM KEEN”, which truly captures the spirit of the organization and the spirit with which she approached her work. KEEN provides free exercise and recreational programs to kids with disabilities.

Joanna passed away from cancer in 2021, just a few months apart from her son’s passing from a rare disease. Her journey with her son’s disease helped her to experience a special connection with KEEN athletes, and she advocated tirelessly for all of them.

Joanna’s legacy now lives on in the courage of the KEEN family.
