Members of the Salem community have created an endowment to honor Dr. Alan Seibert’s 15 years of service as superintendent and his 30-year career with the City of Salem schools. Alan Seibert began his career with the school division in 1990 as a student-teacher while attending Virginia Tech. He served as a middle and high school assistant principal and an elementary school principal before becoming district superintendent in 2006. Once the endowment is fully funded, it will provide a scholarship for a graduate of Salem High School who demonstrates a strong work ethic, a deep commitment to public service and plans to attend a two- or four-year academic program beyond high school. Selection preference will be given to a student who is an Eagle Scout.
