I chose to become a member of the Teen Leadership Corps because I am passionate about making a difference for children in need. I have had the benefit of growing up without having to worry about whether I would have enough clothing or school supplies. Many children in the Philadelphia area, however, do not have that same experience. According to economyleague.org, Philadelphia is the poorest large city in the nation, with about 23.3% living in poverty. As a teen leader, I hope to combat that. Giving children the confidence to go to school every morning through school supplies, outfits, and books could greatly support their success. Through my role as a member of the Leadership Corps, I become something bigger than myself and work to create a better future for those affected by poverty.
As of now, I am unsure of how I want to raise money. I was thinking about selling friendship bracelets or jewelry or selling some of my old stuff.
